Cappadocia balloon price: what a flight costs in dirhams

As of 23 September 2026, a standard shared balloon flight in Cappadocia costs indicatively [to verify: AED 950 to 1,400] per person. A private basket for two costs indicatively [to verify: AED 9,000 to 14,000] per basket. Both figures are indicative, valid on that date, and the live price in dirhams is always on the booking page.

Standard flights: price per person

Every one of these includes hotel pickup and return, a light breakfast at the base, the flight, passenger insurance and a certificate. Some operators add a short toast on landing. Children pay the adult price on almost every operator once they are old enough to fly.

The low end of each range is January, February, July and August. The high end is April to June and September to October, when the region is full and the operators are sold out days ahead. A standard flight is the right choice for most travellers; the private or shared page explains when it is not.

Private flights: price per basket

A private basket is the same aircraft, the same pilot licence and the same SHGM approval as a shared flight. What you buy is the basket to yourselves, a private car for the pickup rather than a minibus, and usually a better breakfast. Split across a family of five, a private family basket often costs less per person than a comfort flight, so do the sum both ways.

What changes the price

Four things move the number, in this order of weight.

1. Season. Spring and autumn are the peak. Tariffs are set in euros once a year and the dirham figure follows the exchange rate on the day you book.
2. Basket size. Fewer passengers per basket means a higher price per person. The 8 to 12 seat comfort baskets cost roughly half again the standard price.
3. Hotel pickup. Göreme, Uçhisar, Çavuşin and Ürgüp are included. Hotels further out, such as Avanos, Ortahisar or a farm stay, may carry a small transfer supplement. [to verify: which villages carry a pickup supplement and how much]
4. Insurance. Passenger liability insurance is a licensing requirement and is inside the price. What varies is the operator's own extra cover, and whether your travel policy covers ballooning; check it, because many Gulf policies exclude "aerial activities".

Two things do not change the price: the day of the week, and booking in Arabic or English. If a reseller quotes a weekend surcharge, that is their margin.

What "from Dubai" packages usually include

A package sold in the UAE as "Cappadocia balloon from Dubai" is normally three parts. Flights from DXB or AUH to Kayseri via Istanbul, two or three nights in a cave hotel with breakfast, and a standard balloon flight on the second morning. Airport transfers are sometimes inside and sometimes a separate line, so ask.

What the package rarely includes is a backup morning, and that is the line we care about. If the balloon is cancelled on your second morning and you fly home on the third, the refund is real but the flight is gone. Read cancellations and weather before you accept a two-night package in winter.

Deposit and refund rules

The rules below are how the market works in general. The exact rule for your flight is on the booking page and takes precedence.

• Deposit. Most operators hold a seat against a card or a partial payment, with the balance due before the flight date. [to verify: deposit percentage and balance timing per operator]
• Weather cancellation. If SHGM grounds the morning, you are moved to the next available morning or refunded in full. No operator charges for a weather cancellation.
• Your cancellation. Cancelling in good time, usually 48 to 72 hours ahead, is refunded; cancelling on the day, or not appearing at pickup, is generally not. [to verify: free cancellation window per operator]
• Refund route. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, in dirhams, and take a few working days to appear.

Is it cheaper to book on arrival?

Occasionally, by a small margin, in low season. In peak weeks the answer is no, because the seats are gone. Hotel receptions in Göreme sell balloon seats at a commission, and the price they quote is rarely lower than the operator's online tariff.

The bigger cost of booking late is the loss of your backup morning. Book the flight for your second morning before you travel, keep the third free, and the price question takes care of itself.
