The field journal is where we write down what the guide pages cannot fit. The texture of a morning, the mud on a path, the moment a child decides an underground tunnel is enough. Entries are short, dated and practical.
What the journal is for
Guide pages answer planning questions with numbers: which airport, how many days, what a balloon costs. The journal answers a different question, which is what it feels like to be there. It describes the light at 07:00 in November and how cold a valley floor gets. It says how long a family of five really takes on a walk that a sign calls two hours.
Each entry is written from what our team in Türkiye sees repeatedly across a season, not from a single trip. We do not invent dates, names or quotes. Where an entry mentions an opening hour or a price we are not certain of, the figure is marked and listed for verification.
How to use it
Read an entry before you decide whether an activity suits your group. The Rose Valley entry will tell you whether a winter walk is realistic with a grandmother and a toddler. The Avanos entry shows how a pottery afternoon fills a rainy or windy day. The underground city entry explains where children stop enjoying the tunnels and what to do about it.
