Editorial policy

Every page on cappadocia.ae is written from a brief, checked before writing, read by a second person and dated. A page with open verification items is published but kept out of search engines until the figures are confirmed.

One brief per page

Each page starts with a written brief. The brief names the single question the page answers, the reader it is for, the first-hand element it must carry and the sources it must cite. A page that answers two questions is split into two pages.

Verification before writing

Facts are checked before a sentence is drafted, not after. For flights we use airline and airport timetables. For balloon rules we use the Turkish civil aviation authority, the SHGM, and the operator's own cancellation terms. For visas we use the official e-Visa site. For museums and sites we use the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Every source is listed at the foot of the page with the date it was checked. If we cannot find a source for a figure, the figure does not go in.

AI drafts are never published raw

We use language models to draft and to check structure. No draft is published as it comes out. A person adds at least one first-hand detail from our own operations and at least one figure with a dated source, and rewrites anything that reads as generic.

The Arabic page is written from the same facts, not translated from the English. The two pages share structure and figures; the sentences differ.

Second reader checklist

Before a page goes live, a second person reads it against a fixed list:

• Does the first paragraph answer the question with numbers?
• Is every price, time, distance or opening hour either sourced or marked for verification?
• Are balloon safety and cancellation statements limited to what the SHGM and the operator say?
• Are halal, prayer and family claims specific to a named place, or clearly general?
• Is there one call to action and no urgency language?
• Are the Arabic place names spelled to the house list?

Dates and re-checks

Prices, timetables and opening hours carry a last-checked date, shown at the foot of the page. Every such page is re-checked at most 90 days after that date. Pages with seasonal content, such as winter flight schedules, are re-checked at 30 days during the season.

If a figure changes between checks and a reader tells us, we correct the page the same working day and update the date.

Open verification items

When a writer is not certain of a figure, the figure is marked on the page and listed in the page's verification notes. Such pages are set to noindex, so they do not appear in search results until our operations team confirms every item. The marks are visible to readers on purpose.

If you find an error on any page, write to hello@rateextra.ae with the page address and what you believe is wrong. We reply to every correction and note the change on the page. See also about the desk for who we are.
